I'm using openSUSE 10.3 64-bit KDE 3.5.9 and tried to install LN R8.0.x - successfully.

First problem was running setup. The suggestion (http://symphony.lotus.com/software/lotus/symphony/supportThread.jspa?messageID=8709&#8709 - paste to location as text) for Symphony resolved it = installation libgnomecanvas-32bit. I changed permissions as described the Ubuntu forum (http://ubuntu-utah.ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=687679) . Maybe it's not necessary.

After that installation finished well but Notes crashed with "CLFRJ0010E: Notes initialization failed". I ran Notes from Shell by command "<install path>/framework/../notes". It shows which library is missing (output is like "error while loading shared libraries: libgnomeui-2.so. 0" etc.). I preferred 32-bit versions usually.

In this moment I have no resolution for Getting Started. This page shows me text "org.eclipse.swt.browser.Browser: No more handles (java.lang.UnsatisfiedLinkError: no swt-mozilla-gtk-3346 or swt-mozilla-gtk in swt.library.path, java.library.path or the jar file). Notes client seems work well.

I believe IBM's dependency list (or dependency testing script) could be able to help users install Notes on unsupported platforms :-)
